Scripture References for the Doctrine of Atonement…
The clearer the church’s conception of the Atonement, the more true vitality and strength the church has enjoyed. The decline of understanding the doctrine of the Atonement has always been accompanied by a corresponding decline in the spiritual health of the visible church.
When the punishment-substitution aspects of the Atonement have been emphasized and understood, the church has prospered. When these doctrines have been challenged or obscured, the church has fallen into serious decline.
