Scripture related to the Holy Spirit & Justification by Faith
God has put to my account the perfect, spotless, seamless robe of righteousness of His dear Son. This is the biblical and the Protestant doctrine of justification by faith…by faith alone! (Lloyd-Jones)
Romans 3:23, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:9-10, What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one.
Romans 1:17, For in it (according to verse 16 this is the Gospel) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”
Roman 3:22, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;
28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.
Romans 4:5, But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness,
6 just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, and whose sins have been covered.
Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Romans 8:30, and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
Romans 8:31, What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies;
34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
Galatians 2:16, nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
Romans 10:4, For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
2 Corinthians 5:21, He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Philippians 3:9, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.
Ephesians 2:8-9, For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Differences in Justification and Sanctification
1. Justification is an act of God the Father; sanctification is essentially the work of God the Holy Spirit.
2. Justification takes place outside us, like in a court of law, sanctification takes place within us in our inner life.
3. Justification removes the guilt of sin; sanctification removes the pollution of sin and renews us in the image of God.
4. Justification is a once-and-for-all act. It is never to be repeated because it cannot be repeated. It is not a process but a declaration by God that we are declared just once and for ever. Sanctification means we grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord until we stand in His presence.
